Dead End Follies Awards 2012 - Nominees for Best Novella

James Ellroy is pouting, because I haven't read SHAKEDOWN yet.

The digital age of publishing is bringing back the novella and it's a great thing. While it's unclear as what is a novella in cold, hard facts, it is "conceptually" a story too long to be a short story and too short to be a novel. So it doesn't have the fragmented nature of shorts and neither does it have the intimidation/commitment factor of novels. They are cheap, fast paced,  fun to read and perfect for recurring characters to wreak some havoc. Some of my favorite reads this year, were novellas. They are easy to approach and exciting. They have the potential to turn many souls to reading. For this reason, I created this category, because you need to know novellas are out there and you need to know some are that good. The nominees are.
