I Wear the Black Hat

Chuck Klosterman leaked this on his Facebook page, yesterday:

This is great news. The best since Dennis Lehane announced LIVE BY NIGHT last year. If you don't know Klosterman already, you're missing out. He's this über-rational critic/author, who obstinately refuses to dwell on anything academic. He discusses everything pop culture related, from reality television to sports. I've read all his books up to his first novel DOWNTOWN OWL and have grown very fond of his writing. He is, by the way, a very big influence on this blog. Every day, I try to rip him off and fail miserably.

I WEAR THE BLACK HAT, according to him is: "basically twelve essays about one idea" , the concept of villains. This is going to own. The only incertitude I have about it, is whether or not I'll wait for the paperback because the spines are all marked with a letter and so far in my bookshelf it's written: C-H-U-C-K. You see where this is going.

I have six months to make it C-H-U-C-K-K-L by reading EATING THE DINOSAUR and his second novel THE VISIBLE MAN, before resuming this existential-OCD-bookshelf-quandary. In the meantime, you can read my reviews of his previous work and give in to temptation to read him. You can see there is a logical and emotional progression in my relationship to his writing. You can also witness my reviews got better along the way.
