February's Readers Choice : Sucker June, by Sean Kilpatrick
Surprise! I've held the draw for February's Reader's Choice 24h in advance since there were no suggestions coming in anymore. Quite frankly, I was panicking a little bit also because there were mammoth novels in the mix and I wanted to give myself as much time as possible. Fortunately, the winner for February is another short book: Sucker June, by my favorite film critic Sean Kilpatrick.
Now, I have no idea what the book can possibly be about, but judging from my experience with Kilpatrick's writing and from Blake Butler's blurb, it may be up to me to connect the dots. It was a suggestion from New Zealand reader Matthew Tavendale. Here is the FB live draw if you guys think I cheated my way out of a long book or something.
Here are the other books that were suggested this month:
Ottessah Moshfegh - Homesick for Another World (suggested by Kelby Losack)
Patrick O'Brian - Master and Commander (suggested by Marko Susimetsa)
Joe Hill - The Fireman (suggested by Craig McNeely)
Claudine Dumont - Captive (suggested by Sam Wiebe)
Hubert Selby Jr. - Requiem for a Dream (suggested by Ryan Bracha)
Irvine Welsh - Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs (suggested by Ryan Bracha)
Bill Beverly - Dodgers (suggested by a reader named tombow)
James Clavell - Shogun (suggested by Joe Miller)
Jack O'Connell - Word Made Flesh (suggested by Mark Teppo)
Matthew Stokoe - Cows (suggested by George Cotronis)
Todd Keisling - The Final Reconciliation (suggested by Dan Schwent)
Tom Spanbauer - I Loved You More (suggested by Ola Elnaggar)
Thank you to all the participants! Look out for my review of Sean Kilpatrick's Sucker June either on the 27th or the 28th of this month and I hope to have even MORE suggestions from you guys next month! Let's crack 20!
