Nominations for the 2024 Larry Prater Awards
Year 15 is in the books for Dead End Follies.
Fourth edition for the Larry Prater Awards, named after one of my earliest readers who passed away in 2020. Not going to lie, I’ve read and watched some remarkable stuff over the last twelve months, but nothing that swept me off my feet. I’ve listened to albums that did, but in order to know which ones you’ll have to listen to the Vox & Hops Review Crew podcast in early 2025. It doesn’t mean I had a bad year at all, just that I’m getting more difficult to please I guess? Comes with the territory when you’re a critic.
So, here are the nominees for the 2024 Larry Prater Award for Best Read and the 2024 Larry Prater Award for Best Viewing. As you might already be aware: these were not necessarily released in 2024, just that I’ve seen or read them over the last twelve months. Don’t take the original rating I gave the art at face value, appreciation can be modulated over time. Gaining insight and perspective over time is natural. It only means you’re growing as an audience. So without further ado, here are your 2024 nominees!
